Additional note not in podcast: “In the early 20th century  a Catholic convert, Ms. M. Davies of Llantrisant underwrote the building of a memorial church in Ferndale (nearby) and also had a wooden replica of the statue Our Lady of Penryus carved, which is in the church today.” (from wikipedia)
