{"id":5186,"date":"2026-05-05T07:40:00","date_gmt":"2026-05-05T11:40:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nikossteves.com\/?p=5186"},"modified":"2026-07-30T18:31:56","modified_gmt":"2026-07-30T22:31:56","slug":"508-pragues-marian-column","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nikossteves.com\/?p=5186","title":{"rendered":"508- Prague&#8217;s Marian Column"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div style=\"height:49px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Embed Player\" style=\"border:none\" src=\"https:\/\/play.libsyn.com\/embed\/episode\/id\/40909160\/height\/128\/theme\/modern\/size\/standard\/thumbnail\/yes\/custom-color\/4783b6\/time-start\/00:00:00\/playlist-height\/200\/direction\/backward\/download\/yes\/stats-code\/Schedule2618\/font-color\/FFFFFF\" height=\"128\" width=\"100%\" scrolling=\"no\" allowfullscreen=\"\" webkitallowfullscreen=\"true\" mozallowfullscreen=\"true\" oallowfullscreen=\"true\" msallowfullscreen=\"true\"><\/iframe>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:21px\"><em>During an overseas trip to the wonderful city of Prague<\/em> <em>I literally stumbled on the \u201cMarian Column\u201d in the center of \u201cold town.\u201d <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:20px\"><em>At the time it did not appear in any tour guides, nor promotional materials.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Intrigued, I researched the story of the Marian Column of Prague.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">Its history, long hidden behind the Iron Curtain, in a country that had been considered one of the least religious in the world, <strong>is a wonderful example of peoples love for the Virgin Mary.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This new column had been brought back to the Czech Republic in 2020 in order to thank the Virgin Mary for her loving support of the Czech people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The original Marian Column erected in 1650 was destroyed by radicals following WW I.
