Old time photo dramatically portrays the 30′ size of the statue compared to the worker standing at it’s base, apparently in a workshop. Note it’s spiral staircase inside like the Statue of Liberty!
Old time black and white photograph showing a wide shot of the Basilica with people dressed in the fashions popular as the dates turned from 1800’s to 1900’s.
Old time photograph of the lift that allows visitors to easily ascend to the top of the mountain where the Basilica stands with the 30′ Madonna placed at it’s very top.
Close up of the 30′ statue of the Madonna high atop the Basilica. (notice how she is looking out to sea, while Baby Jesus waves to those who are coming to the Basilica)
Color photo of the gold gilded 30′ statue of the Madonna as it looks today perched at the top of the Basicila.
