The tangible results as the USSR absorbed the Ukraine have long been documented. The struggles by the people there included religious and cultural actions designed to crush their identity.

But the steadfast faith in God by those who left the Ukraine and how they protected their beleaguered homeland come under the microscope in this installment.

October 13, 1998 was the final publicly announced apparition in Conyers, Georgia for Nancy Fowler.

In her final message, according to Nancy Fowler, the Virgin Mary asked people- “To pray for peace around the world.”

Also- “If you are worried about the future, put not your attention to these matters, the future holds no concerns for those who truly seek God and love Him and remain in His favor.”

In this installment I found myself reliving the fall of the Berlin Wall and the unbelievable reality of USSR style Communism melting down like the core of an uncheck nuclear reactor.

The anti-religious countries within the Soviet sphere changed.

However as these events unfolded, a vortex of confusion was the major component as changes in political power occurred along with social upheaval to varying degrees within each country.

And the little village of Medjugorje of all places found itself in the center of the break-ups. How is it that the Virgin Mary appeared here a decade before this upheaval?

Why did she find herself in Medjugorje within this sphere of chaos, in the midst of the war zones and war atrocities during 1990 through 1995?

And in case you wonder, during those dangerous times the pilgrim’s still came to Medjugorje and the area was protected as if in a bubble.

Hatred in its most dangerous form came face to face with the Madonna.

Also in this installment, other witnesses who had been to Medjugorje began to come forward.

This installment is about the early days in Medjugorje. Things start changing in the village as more and more people came there.

Visitors would congregate in and around the church before and/or after climbing up to the apparition site where the teens first met the Virgin Mary.

Some visitors wanted to go to confession before taking communion. Others visitors simply wished to linger or meditate and they chose to do so around the church grounds.

Before long, church services were offered each evening.

Gradually, even the villagers began to find themselves participating more frequently in these church services as well.

A renewed spiritual energy grew in the little village.

On the world front, President Reagan delivered his “Tear Down This Wall” challenge to the Soviets and East German Government and things in Poland continued to heat up between the God-fearing workers and the Godless Communist regime.

Medjugorje is located in the Balkans, an area where for centuries, different cultures met and overlapped and it must be understood in context with this region of the world.

This area is the “pointy edge of the sword” for humanity.

The Balkans are a place where some people held fast onto their cultural and religious values and fought and died in support of their beliefs.

It is a place where over the centuries; others simply followed what the rulers of the day dictated.

And so it should come as no surprise, that the Madonna chose to appeared here, in this region of the world where World War 1 started.

Within the first few days of the of appearances by the Virgin Mary in Medjugorje back in the summer of 1981, over 3000 people gathered to be near the six visionaries.

During their experiences, the six teens and pre-teens reported that during an apparition they feel outside of time and space.

They say the Madonna told them she is a servant messenger of God and that she delivered a series of requests for humanity, which included specific messages for guidance…

At the same time, in a very distant part of the world, far from the trappings of modern times, we light on the earliest experiences of six teen and pre-teenagers who find themselves in the presence of a lady. A “lady in white” who calls herself the “Queen of Peace.”

This installment learns of official government and medical documents that testify to the witnessed visual experiences and healings by and for humanity during visitations of the Virgin Mary in Egypt.

In this installment, the cold war actions on the world stage were captured in Time Magazine’s famous 1966 proclamation that “God is Dead.” In the USA in particular it became an often-debated question for humanity during those times of tremendous social upheaval as the 1960’s are well remembered for.

Chapter 25 is entitled An Apparition for All. The Madonna appears over a Coptic Orthodox church in of all places Cairo, Egypt. Christians, Muslims, members of the Jewish community and even the government, witnessed this apparition of the Virgin Mary.

Watching along with over a million people in attendance and Michael O’Neill the “Miracle Hunter.”

This installment goes into the challenges for determining the make-up of new governments for the vanquished countries after World War 2. The tensions between the victors took divergent courses.

The inevitable solutions when humanity becomes confrontational over disagreements is typically solved by war, where one side wins the other looses.

But the nuclear age got in the way of this scenario and the advent of mutually assured destruction forced new ways to battle.

From Germany to Viet Nam…the great divide faced off in new different ways.

And the cynicism that followed WWI turned to fatalism following WWII.

As for the Virgin Mary? She was there also.

These events reveal how humanity had to “face off” with the growing power of the Soviet regime that was determined to break the spirit of those wanting the liberty to worship freely in their homelands.
